Student Support Centers and Other Academic Support Programs for Virtual Learning

  • The YMCA has created Student Support Centers to provide safe spaces for students in grades K-6 to learn.  These centers will be open from 7am-6pm, Monday-Friday.  The purpose of these centers is to provide a safe setting in which students can learn among their peers during the times their schools are in virtual learning.  Please click here for more information and to view locations
  • Xtreme Learning (Norristown School District) - Now accepting applications from students attending Norristown Area School District schools grades K-9.  The tuition for each child is $150/week for drop-in care of $200/week for drop-in and extended care.  CCIS is accepted.  Breakfast and lunch included, as well as in-school help during asynchronous (independent) learning.  Technology support during live learning, as well as games and outdoor activities provided.  
  • Kaiserman JCC (Wynnewood & Dresher) - Launched a new educational enrichment program for children who are either learning virtually full-time or whose school is operating a hybrid model.  8:00am - 4:30pm (no early or late care options).  Wynnewood location for children grades 1-5, Dresher location for grades K-5.
  • KidSpace at KleinLife: Northeast Philadelphia - before and after school enrichment program for children in grades K-8.  For the duration of virtual learning, KidSpace operates M-F; 7am-6pm.  Their dates coincide with the calendar of the Philadelphia School District and Jewish holidays.
  • Ambler Sports Academy - School Days programming designed for academic support and recreational activities grades 1-8 (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm)
  • Philadelphia Rock Gyms - PRG Study Hall for Kids - Monday through Friday, September 7th - November 20th, 9am - 3pm, Monday through Friday.  Extended Day 8am-5pm available.  Ages 6-15 welcome.  PRG camp staff will provide a dedicated work area, plenty of table space, WIFI, snacks and supervision for kids who need to do school work or participate in synchronous virtual learning with their class.  PGR camp staff will also build in climbing lessons throughout the day to get kids moving and have some fun
  • Elmwood Park Zoo Learning Center (Grades 3-5) - EPZ's Learning Center will provide students with a dedicated, 6-ft minimally-distanced workspace in their Canopy Garden Pavilion.  Students will have access to power for their devices and the zoo's wifi network, and they'll be supervised by zoo staff.  Breaks will include zoo tours and talks about the animal collection.  Classes will run from 9am - 3:30pm and will be available by the day, week, or month.  Parents can also take advantage of their Go Wild Afterschool Program, which provides fun and educational afterschool care from 3:30pm - 6pm (children do not have to be part of the Learning Center to join Go Wild).  Applications for the Learning Center and Go Wild Afterschool Programs are available beginning Thursday, August 20th.  Programs run August 31 - December 23.
  • The Malvern Virtual Program (MVP) designed to support families with school aged (K-4) children navigate virtual learning in the 2020-2021 school year.  It is designed as a full day program that will be led by qualified, credentialed teachers in a small group environment.  The MVP program will support families that have a school district provided virtual learning schedule that is either hybrid or full-time virtual schedule.
  • City of Philadelphia - Digital Learning Access Centers - Access Center provide Philadelphia's most vulnerable students with a safe place for digital learning when caregivers work outside the home and have no childcare supports.  Registration is required.  Open to Philadelphia students entering kindergarten through sixth grade.  Click here for locations throughout the city.
  • Phield House School Days Program (Philadelphia) - Registration now open to kids in grades 2-8.  This program will provide students with academic support and the ability to participate in recreational activities.  
  • XL Sports School Camp (Cherry Hill, NJ) - XL Sports World is holding an educational support and camp program to give K-7 students a safe place to participate in their online education and engage in sports, art, games, and many fun activities.  Our program will run through the end of the 2020/2021 school year.  Students are supervised as they participate in their daily virtual learning by our experienced camp staff that includes teachers, college, and graduate students.  Campers will have the opportunity to engage in healthy physical activity and sports-inspired games and activities that include skating, art, yoga, fitness, and free play.
  • Deptford (NJ) Skating Center - DSC is offering a monitored learning program with flexible full and half day hours.  Lunch, drinks, and snack provided.  For grades Pre-K - 8th.  Fun & Games after learning is finished.  For more information contact DSCSummerCamp@gmail.com or call 856-845-7353.
  • MOMentum Coworking (Upper Dublin School District) - MOMentum Coworking offers coworking space with coffee and wifi.  There is onsite childcare with professional caregivers in an adjacent wing on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday from 9am-5pm
  • Academic Engagement Camp at College Settlement (Horsham) - Staff will assist students (grades 2-5) in logging into their distance learning platforms from their open-air building, with social distance and masking protocols in place.  They will provide opportunities for socially distanced engagement with peers, personal exploration, and interactions with nature.  Please note staff will not provide tutoring.
