Komae App - New Resource
The impact of COVID-19 on childcare has been profound. In support of our working parents at Einstein, we are pleased to offer new resources for childcare support, including Komae, a cooperative childcare app that provides a flexible management option for our staff and employees working both at home and onsite. Komae enables parents to identify and vet families with similar parenting styles and COVID-19 hygiene practices to build their pod for shared childcare and education. On Komae, families within a trusted network come together to share caregiving. Parents swap "Komae Points" by the hour as a way to manage and coordinate care for their children.
As part of this program, you will receive an initial balance of points to receive care from others in our community, and you will receive additional points by caring back for another family. These services are cost-free to you. If you are someone who needs to receive more help than you're available to offer to others, Komae has made extra points available for purchase. Likewise, if you are someone who serves others more than you need care for yourself, Komae offers quarterly point cash-ins where you can use your earned points to purchase family-forward products and gift cards. In this way, Komae can be used to coordinate the rotation of care days and communicate needs within groups regardless of your capacity to reciprocate.
Parents interested in Komae cooperative childcare: Komae will be hosting a live Q&A and meet-and-greet for Einstein families on Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 PM and Thursday, September 24 at 12:00 PM. This is an opportunity to virtually meet colleagues at Einstein who are also interested in forming care and learning pods. Register in advance by clicking the date you are interested in.
We have collaborated with Komae to provide a variety of onboarding resources which can be found here.
