Medical plans

We all need health insurance to protect our families’ physical and financial health. Einstein offers employees a choice of several health plans, which cover costs at a higher level if you use the Einstein Network. Each plan provides comprehensive healthcare services, but there are differences in deductibles, copays, coninsurance amounts and out-of-pocket maximums. Because Einstein offers all these different options, you’re sure to find a health plan option that meets your needs.

Independence offers reimbursement through their Healthy Lifestyles program for things like fitness (receive up to $150 of your fitness center fees after enrolling in the program and completing 120 workouts in 365 days), healthy weight (get up to $150 per year for class fees when you enroll in an approved weight management program (e.g., Weight Watchers), and tobacco cessation (get up to $200 when you complete an approved program to help you quit smoking.  If your program costs less than $200, you may apply the difference toward reimbursement of nicotine replacement products or medications)/

Dental plans

Some people think they don’t need dental coverage because they aren’t having problems at the moment. Even if your teeth are fine, getting regular checkups is important. Dental coverage also helps because dental bills can be very high. You may elect dental coverage even if you waive medical coverage.

Prescription plan

The Prescription Plan, administered through Express Scripts Inc., allows you to fill your prescriptions at any participating retail pharmacy, Einstein Apothecary or mail order. You have a copay, and the plan pays the balance. If you’re not sure whether your retail pharmacy participates in the Express Scripts Network, contact your pharmacy or the ESI Customer Service Center at 877-242-1794. You can also visit the Express Scripts website at www.express-scripts.com. Filling your prescriptions at the LiveWell Pharmacy lets you take advantage of lower copays and also reduces the cost to Einstein, helping preserve our prescription benefit program.

If you are taking any medications on the exclusion list, please ask your physician to consider writing you a prescription for one of the safe and effective covered alternatives.  In most cases, if you fill a prescription for one of these medications, it will not be covered by the prescription plan and you will be required to pay the full retail price.  If you need to take a non-formulary or excluded medication, ask your doctor to request prior authorization.  If your prescription medication is then approved, your prescription will be covered and you will pay the appropriate copay.
